A Family Legacy Built From the Ground Up
Fast-Dry Courts was founded in 1981 by Stephen N. Dettor, who got his start building roads overseas as a member of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers — experience that led him into asphalt court construction back home in South Florida. As a clay court boom swept the tennis industry, Dettor shifted his focus, becoming a specialist in clay court construction and resurfacing and eventually developing FDC HydroCourt, the company's high performance sub-surface irrigation system that remains one of the most trusted in the sport.
That entrepreneurial spirit carried into the next generation. All five of Stephen's sons grew up working summers on courts across South Florida, and four of them — Trimmer, Todd, David and Steve Dettor Jr. — built full careers within the company, spanning everything from building, resurfacing and maintaining courts to sales, estimating, production and executive management.

Fast-Dry Courts has completed more than 11,000 sports construction projects, including over 4,500 tennis and pickleball courts built and more than 6,500 resurfacing projects. The Fast-Dry crew completes the entire build in just 60 days, reconstructing the custom stadium court inside Hard Rock Stadium and resurfacing 17 practice courts, seven tournament courts and two grandstand courts across the 978,000-square-foot tennis facility — using more than 150 truckloads of rock, over 13,000 gallons of paint and multiple loads of asphalt.
